Just a day in the life.

 7/10/24

Today...

Brooks wants to play "the paralyzed man" and requests "Tear off the Roof" by Brandon Lake. Yesterday we played the scene about 30 times. He plays David and Goliath. He plays Daniel in the lions' den.

He doesn't tire of the same games. He relishes them. When do we lose this wonder?

He asks for me to find the page in his Bible with "God on the cross." He looks on Jesus' wounds with compassion. He asks why did they hurt Him? He knows the angel tells the grieving, "He is alive!"

He's had 3 days of dry pull-ups. He already uses potty-humor. He had to take a break for being mean to his brother.

He grows up before my eyes. I get to have the privilege of planting the first seeds of potential faith into his soul. His wonder delights me.

Anthony comes home from work. He helps with groceries. He is patient with his toddler brother. Tomorrow we go pick up his first car from the dealership. Almost seven years have passed since he moved into our home. I am so proud of who he is becoming. Thank you, Father, for letting me be a witness to your plans for him.

I'm tired just from the simple things. Playing with him. Making bread. Doing laundry. Growing little sister inside of me. Putting away groceries.

Tired, yet satisfied. I used to be curious about how I could be content in this"mundane". But here you are, Lord, teaching me to be. You remind me of the days I used to dream, "I just want to be a Mom."

My dreams are now. My joy is now. You are here.
